About Tara
Tara is a Dutch illustrator (b. 1990), whose journey into art began with art therapy. From her cozy studio in The Hague, she creates joyful, whimsical illustrations full of color and life. Her work is all about capturing the simple, playful beauty that can be found in the world around us.
A trip to Japan in 2016 left a lasting mark on her heart. The peaceful temples and serene zen gardens opened her eyes to a new way of seeing things—a blend of ancient wisdom and gentle kindness. Inspired, Tara decided to follow her creative path even further, seeking to uncover that timeless, innocent joy in an ever-changing world.
Currently, she's learning Japanese to dive deeper into the rich, vibrant culture that so fascinates her.
There's a magic to the quiet of my atelier, a place where I can let my imagination roam free.
Each painting tells a story that hints at quiet friendships and hidden worlds; a rabbit might be resting under a giant mushroom, while a butterfly keeps watch like a silent guardian.
My atelier is tucked in a light-filled corner of my home. The walls are lined with dried flowers and little trinkets that inspire me—a pine cone here, an old brass key there, things that feel like they hold stories of their own.
